About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Intern position provides support to the Research and Development group at Oatey. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers to assist with various technical assignments and product development tasks. This internship is part of the 2027 summer program and offers hands-on experience within our manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior engineers with project records, documentation, and paperwork.
- Participate in product design projects, including design specification and implementation.
- Use computer-aided drafting systems to prepare drawings and project documentation.
- Create solid computer models to predict material behavior in machines and injection molds.
- Generate bills of materials, material specifications, and project-specific processes.
- Provide technical support to departments including manufacturing, sales, quality, and purchasing.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams to develop new products.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate engineering program with at least four semesters completed.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for solid modeling.
- Ability to understand and modify existing mechanical designs.
- Strong analysis skills and experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative.
- Finite Element Analysis experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with the water infrastructure industry is a plus.
