About the role#
This is a part-time student position within the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. It is designed to help students gain hands-on experience in a government setting while continuing their education. You will work approximately 20 hours per week, typically four hours per day during the morning or afternoon. This is an on-site role based in Pontiac, Michigan.
What you'll do#
- Index and file departmental documents, reports, and records.
- Answer routine public inquiries regarding departmental procedures.
- Sort and distribute mail and other materials.
- Operate office equipment including scanners, copiers, and calculators.
- Enter data into departmental records using a computer.
- Prepare correspondence and reports from drafts or instructions.
- Assist with periodic inventories of office supplies and stock.
- Move materials and help maintain organized storage areas.
- Deliver case files or documents across the County campus.
- Use Countywide and department-specific software to complete assignments.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least sixteen years of age.
- You must be currently enrolled in high school, college, a technical business institute, or a vocational school.
- Proof of enrollment is required at the time of hire.
- High school students in a work education program must provide evidence of enrollment in an authorized school program.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Basic proficiency with personal computers and word processing software.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet, database, email, and internet software.
- Ability to maintain clerical records and write legibly.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and the public.

- Location: Pontiac, Michigan.
- Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $17.55 - $20.65 per hour.
