About the role#
This therapist intern position provides practical experience in a healthcare setting. You will support healthcare professionals with administrative tasks, patient interaction, and basic clinical support under supervision. This role helps you build foundational knowledge in health services and gain exposure to multidisciplinary teams.
What you'll do#
- Assist healthcare staff with scheduling, record keeping, and data entry.
- Prepare examination rooms and help with patient intake.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers.
- Observe clinical procedures and healthcare protocols to gain practical knowledge.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a healthcare, social work, or related academic program.
- Basic understanding of healthcare terminology and patient care principles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Previous volunteer or internship experience in a healthcare or social assistance setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and infection control practices.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy.
- Multilingual skills are a plus for assisting diverse patient populations.
