About the role#
As a Pharmacist Grad Intern at Northeast Shared Services, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain practical experience in pharmacy operations and patient care. This role focuses on developing your professional skills while ensuring the highest level of accuracy in prescription preparation and customer service.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist with prescription preparation, processing, and inventory management.
- Receive and interpret new prescriptions from prescribers via phone or written documentation.
- Counsel patients on medication use and provide health screenings such as blood pressure checks.
- Resolve billing issues by communicating with insurance companies and patients.
- Participate in corporate programs, including Medication Therapy Management interventions.
- Make immunization recommendations based on state law and ACIP schedules.
- Administer immunizations to adults under supervision if you meet all state and company requirements.
- Ensure all medications are dispensed to the correct patient at the point of sale.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of the first professional year of pharmacy study.
- A state-licensed pharmacy intern permit where applicable.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to exercise good judgment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and the pharmacy team.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and common insurance billing procedures.
- A friendly, helpful attitude and superior customer service skills.
- At least 1 year of previous experience in a community pharmacy is preferred.
- Experience as a pharmacy teammate for at least 6 months is preferred.
