About the role#
As a Pharmacist Grad Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role focuses on learning to meet patient needs while supporting daily pharmacy operations. You will participate in corporate programs and contribute to the overall efficiency of the pharmacy team.
What you'll do#
- Assist with prescription preparation, intake, and accurate processing.
- Manage inventory tasks including ordering, adjustments, and returns.
- Counsel patients on medication use, OTC products, and supplements.
- Take prescriptions over the phone from prescribers and collect patient information.
- Resolve third-party billing issues and determine plan eligibility.
- Complete Medication Therapy Management interventions.
- Provide health screenings and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
- Stay current on ACIP immunization schedules and assist with counseling and documentation.
- Administer immunizations under direct supervision if you hold the required certifications.
- Ensure medications are dispensed correctly at the point of sale.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of the first professional year of pharmacy study.
- A state-licensed pharmacy intern permit where applicable.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to exercise good judgment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and the pharmacy team.
- Knowledge of state pharmacy laws, regulations, insurance plans, and billing procedures.
- A friendly, helpful attitude with a focus on customer service.
- One year of previous experience in a community pharmacy is preferred.
- Prior experience as a pharmacy teammate for at least 6 months is preferred.
