About the role#
NISC is hiring a Technical (IT) Services Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will work directly with our technical teams to support our software solutions and internal infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows desktop operating system issues.
- Join PCs to Windows domains and install NISC software on customer devices.
- Remove viruses and spyware from systems.
- Use remote connectivity tools like Remote Desktop to provide support.
- Set up and test printers on Windows and Linux servers.
- Provide customer phone support through an Automatic Call Distribution environment.
- Monitor Windows and Linux servers using Xymon tools and develop action plans for any identified issues.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor degree program in information technology or a related field.
- Coursework and a general understanding of Windows desktop operating systems, Linux and Windows servers, and TCP/IP networks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical users.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A commitment to NISC's Statement of Shared Values, professional behavior, and confidentiality.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
