About the role#
This unpaid internship offers college students an introduction to the professional broadcast journalism industry at KSN. The program is designed for students in the early to middle stages of their collegiate careers who are looking to gain hands-on experience in a newsroom environment. This position must be completed in conjunction with a degree-based program for college credit.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and work alongside producers, photographers, reporters, and digital team members.
- Learn essential skills including writing, researching, photojournalism, video editing, and producing newscasts.
- Work 2-3 shifts per week, totaling 16-25 hours, for up to 15 weeks.
- Complete any forms necessary to receive academic credit for the experience.
- Participate in a final written evaluation conducted by your internship supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited school, college, or university.
- Completion of at least a few journalism classes, either print or broadcast.
- Moderate skill level to manage the complexity of newsroom projects.
- Fluency in English (bilingual Spanish skills are a plus).
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn.
- Previous internship experience is preferred but not required.

- Location: Wichita, Kansas.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Hours vary and may include weekends, evenings, or early mornings to accommodate the nature of newsroom operations. Supervisors will coordinate with your college course schedule.
