About the role#
This internship program at the KTVI and KPLR newsroom provides students with hands-on experience in a professional broadcast environment. The program is designed for aspiring journalists to engage with the daily operations of a local news station during the Fall 2026 semester. This is an unpaid position that requires enrollment in a college credit program.
What you'll do#
- Gain practical experience within the news department by working alongside reporters, photojournalists, and producers.
- Participate in a structured learning experience under direct supervision.
- Follow the instructions of station staff and contribute to daily newsroom tasks.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and maintain the confidentiality of trade secrets and business information.
What you'll need#
- Current standing as a junior or senior pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism, video production, or communications.
- Ability to receive academic credit for the internship.
- Advanced skill level to manage the complexity of newsroom projects.
- A collaborative mindset and a strong willingness to learn.
- Previous internship experience is considered an asset.
