About the role#
New America’s Education & Work programs are seeking a Communications Intern to help raise the public profile of the programs and staff. This role offers mentorship and the opportunity to work as an integral member of the communications team. The position requires a commitment of 18 to 25 hours per week, running from mid-September through the week of December 11, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Create and maintain media lists using Meltwater and track media coverage.
- Manage social media accounts, including drafting and scheduling content for platforms such as Bluesky and LinkedIn.
- Draft and build the weekly Education & Work newsletter.
- Provide analytics support by gathering data for donor reports.
- Update website landing pages and add media mentions.
- Assist with special projects and administrative tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Background or interest in journalism, public relations, marketing, or public health.
- Strong narrative writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise posts.
- Experience or interest in managing organizational social media accounts.
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with collaborative platforms for task management and document sharing.
- Ability to take initiative and work effectively in a team environment.

- Compensation: $18 to $20 per hour, depending on experience.
