    About the role#

    The Workplace, Infrastructure, and Logistics team manages the acquisition and execution of facilities contracts for our primary campuses. The team oversees approximately $100M in annual infrastructure investment. As a Summer Associate, you will provide full lifecycle project management from inception through implementation. You will work alongside contractors, engineers, architects, and maintenance providers to support design, construction, renovation, and quality assurance phases. This is a 12-week program running from May 2027 through August 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Plan and manage resources for facilities projects to meet construction specifications, budgets, and deadlines.
    • Set and communicate expectations for clients and stakeholders.
    • Assist in developing work plans, project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
    • Identify and minimize project risks while escalating issues to ensure quality.
    • Coordinate with architects, engineers, vendors, and general contractors.
    • Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, quality assurance, and payment oversight.
    • Review technical documentation, blueprints, and service contracts for clarity and compliance.
    • Prepare justifications for the Annual Financial Plan regarding facility projects.
    • Provide regular status reports to management.
    • Manage the permit and approval process for project completion.
    • Potential project topics include AI in cost estimating, storage analysis, building occupancy studies, and permitting guides.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program.
    • Academic focus in Business, Construction, Architecture, Facility Management, or Engineering.
    • Anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
    • Experience in project planning, management, scheduling, and presentation within commercial construction or facility management.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise internal and external team members.
    • Working knowledge of ADA requirements, building codes, and architectural drawings.
    • Proficiency in analyzing, planning, and organizing project activities.
    • Experience in planning, estimating, contract administration, and project inspection.
    • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Location & details#

    • This position is located in Vienna, Virginia.
    • The role is on-site, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
    • This is a full-time, paid internship.
