About the role#
The National Life Group internship program provides undergraduate students with meaningful, career-relevant work in preparation for full-time employment. As an Internal Audit intern, you will join a team of accounting, audit, IT, and insurance professionals. You will gain a foundational understanding of the audit process, including risk assessment, internal control identification, and testing techniques. This is a paid, 10-week summer position.
What you'll do#
- Support audit planning, risk assessment, and testing activities.
- Review business processes and financial or operational information.
- Identify key risks and controls.
- Examine supporting documentation.
- Document procedures and results accurately.
- Escalate potential inconsistencies or issues.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit team members and business partners.
- Prepare clear, organized audit summaries.
- Plan and prioritize assigned work.
What you'll need#

- Ability to work independently within established timeframes.
- Ability to think strategically and respond tactically.

- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field.
Location & details#
- Location: Montpelier, Vermont.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site. You are expected to be in the office four days per week, typically Monday through Thursday.
