NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION & EXPO NEWSROOM PR INTERNSHIP

About the role#

The National FFA Organization is seeking a Public Relations Intern for the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo. This role provides an opportunity to work within a professional newsroom environment at one of the largest conventions in the country. Interns will receive communications coaching from industry experts, including former journalists, broadcasters, and editors. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Indianapolis for the Fall 2027 term.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with media and staff to share member stories through local pitches and news releases.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing media alerts and press materials.
• Coordinate media needs for events and facilitate interviews between media, members, and staff.
• Support on-site media operations, including capturing photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes content for digital press kits.
• Partner with Newsroom Journalist Interns to manage interviews with award winners.
• Draft talking points for members participating in media engagements.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a degree in journalism, agricultural communications, public relations, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Professionalism and comfort working with diverse media outlets.
• Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines.
• Physical ability to navigate the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, including extended periods of walking, standing, and carrying equipment.
• Prior knowledge of the agriculture industry or the National FFA Organization is considered a bonus.

Location & details#

• Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
• Schedule: Requires arrival on October 19, with daily eight-hour shifts from October 20 through October 24, 2026.
• Compensation: Includes a $500 project stipend, plus covered travel expenses (airfare and hotel) and meals.
• Credit: This position may be eligible for college credit.
