About the role#
As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will support the design, development, and manufacturing of spacecraft components. You will work alongside engineers and quality experts to implement assurance protocols, conduct inspections, and identify process improvements. This is a full-time, on-site role for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Inspect and test spacecraft components and systems to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Create and maintain quality control documentation, including inspection records and test reports.
- Analyze manufacturing and assembly processes to identify improvements and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure processes adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collect and analyze data from tests, inspections, and audits to monitor trends.
- Work with engineers and project managers to address quality issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis for identified defects and help develop preventive actions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or Physics.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes used in aerospace.
- Familiarity with quality control tools such as inspection methods, statistical process control, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for data management and reporting.
- Basic understanding of CAD software or other design tools.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly to team members.
- Strong interest in space exploration and aerospace technologies.
- Preferred: Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards, experience in a lab or manufacturing environment, knowledge of data analysis platforms like Minitab or Qlik, and understanding of environmental testing for spacecraft.
