About the role#
This co-op opportunity is part of the Future Talent Program within the Research and Development division. You will join the Neuroscience team for a 6-month term to support Central Nervous System drug discovery. This role involves contributing to the identification and validation of novel targets to treat CNS diseases.
What you'll do#
- Design, execute, interpret, and report in vitro and in vivo experiments.
- Assist in developing and troubleshooting new assays, protocols, and imaging methods.
- Establish cell-based model systems and perform high throughput screening.
- Conduct immunoassays and biochemical or immunohistochemical analysis of tissues.
- Communicate data to teams and stakeholders.
- Review published work to guide research.
- Collaborate with functional areas such as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and genetics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS, BA, MA, or PhD program in biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
- Completion of at least two years of your degree program by June 2026.
- Theoretical knowledge of at least two areas, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culture, neuroscience, functional neuroanatomy, pharmacology, toxicology, fluorescence microscopy, electrophysiology, cell biology, or neurological diseases.
- Hands-on experience with basic biology or chemistry lab procedures.
- Ability to perform accurate data collection, analysis, and presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
