About the role#
This co-op opportunity is located within the Biologics Pilot Plant GMP clinical manufacturing facility in West Point, Pennsylvania. You will work within the Bioprocess Clinical Manufacturing and Technology (BCMT) department, supporting one of three sub-teams: automation, process operations, or capital. This is a full-time, 4-6 month assignment during the Summer or Fall of 2027.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned sub-team, your work will involve:
- Automation: Write code for process control, monitoring, and visualization. Develop tools to improve group efficiency. You will also handle GMP change controls, documentation, and equipment testing.
- Process Operations: Manage a Knowledge Management overhaul, including cleaning up SharePoint, implementing playbooks, and updating templates. You will support new equipment qualification, attend team meetings, and assist with GMP manufacturing tasks.
- Capital: Execute equipment specification, installation, testing, and qualification. You will manage document generation and field execution for commissioning and qualification projects.
- General: Collaborate across functional teams, maintain accurate records, comply with all training and Quality systems, and prioritize safety in all tasks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a BS or BA program in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time for 4-6 months in 2027.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Self-motivation, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Automation applicants: Experience with Python or process control systems like PLC or DeltaV is preferred.
- Process Operations applicants: Experience in a hands-on laboratory or manufacturing setting, specifically with cell culture, fermentation, or downstream purification of large molecules.
- Capital applicants: Prior experience with GMP, manufacturing, or equipment management.
