About the role#
This internship is part of the Future Talent Program within the Research and Development Division. You will join the AI/ML imaging group to work on computational approaches for biomedical imaging and pathology. The project aims to help you develop your technical skills while contributing to drug target and biomarker discovery efforts.
What you'll do#
- Develop and apply foundation model-based AI methods to extract meaningful representations from histopathology images and spatial omics.
- Design interpretable computational approaches to characterize model representations using biologically grounded features, such as tumor microenvironment architecture.
- Integrate image-derived features with patient outcome and molecular data to support biological hypothesis generation.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including experts in data science, computational pathology, biology, and translational research.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, AI/ML, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- Availability to work full-time for 9-12 weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
- Familiarity with computer vision, natural language processing, representation learning, foundation models, or generative AI.
- Experience working with biomedical or scientific data types, such as genomics, medical imaging, or clinical datasets.
- A record of scientific communication through publications or conference presentations.
