About the role#
This is a full-time summer internship with the Data Story Team at Moody's Corporation. You will work at the intersection of editorial strategy, data visualization, and design. The role involves contributing to the full creative pipeline, from working with raw data to publishing visual stories. You will be mentored by professionals and participate in a 10-week program designed to build technical and professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Explore and interrogate real-world datasets to extract meaning and identify visual opportunities.
- Conceptualize and build interactive and static charting components using web technologies.
- Support digital design projects across the brand portfolio, including editorial layouts, marketing materials, and campaign assets.
- Work with geospatial data and mapping tools to add context to data-driven stories.
- Collaborate with designers, developers, researchers, and subject-matter experts to contribute to the creative process.
- Develop skills in coding, data analysis, and AI-assisted workflows under the guidance of an experienced team.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in data visualization, journalism, graphic design, computer science, information design, or a related field.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- A portfolio featuring data visualization and design-driven examples.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Experience with open-source data visualization libraries like D3 or Three.js, and data analysis languages such as Python, R, or Node.js.
- Strong writing skills and editorial instinct.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with Svelte, geospatial tools like QGIS or Mapbox, and print design principles.
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts.
- Ability to work in a Mac OS environment.

- Compensation: Paid at $35 per hour.
