About the role#
The Youth Hockey Development intern supports the daily operations of the department with a focus on community outreach and growing the game of hockey. This is a paid, part-time, and seasonal position that requires availability for nights and weekends based on the event schedule.
What you'll do#
- Represent the Washington Capitals at community fairs, festivals, and grassroots events.
- Assist with Caps Hockey School visits to instruct physical education classes on the fundamentals of the game.
- Serve as a lead instructor for Street Caps Learn to Play clinics at local outdoor street hockey rinks.
- Organize and implement on-ice and off-ice events throughout the season, serving as both a coach and an administrator.
- Execute administrative duties for programs including Future Caps Learn to Play, high school hockey, and ALL CAPS ALL HER.
- Implement Mites on Ice during Capitals home games and support in-game activations.
- Maintain the Youth Hockey Database with participant data and generate analytical reports regarding programs and players.
What you'll need#
- Previous ice hockey playing experience and skating proficiency.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a positive team spirit.
