About the role#
Join the Bioanalytical group as a full-time co-op for the Winter 2027 term. You will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of molecular biology, genomics, and analytical chemistry. This role supports assay development, execution, and data interpretation for mRNA and siRNA quantification. You will contribute to wet lab activities, data analysis, and documentation while working within a regulated biopharmaceutical environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform nucleic acid extraction and quantification from various biological matrices.
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, including Maxwell, TapeStation, Bioanalyzer, QS7, and liquid handlers.
- Execute workflows for mRNA and siRNA extraction, purification, and quality assessment.
- Explore and implement strategies for RT-qPCR method development to improve sensitivity and reproducibility.
- Draft and update Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance.
- Summarize experimental results, create data visualizations, and present progress to cross-functional teams.
- Adhere to biosafety practices and data governance policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an Undergraduate or Graduate program in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Hands-on experience or coursework in a wet lab environment.
- Familiarity with molecular techniques such as pipetting, biosafety cabinet use, and qPCR.
- Strong understanding of PCR principles and nucleic acid quantification.
- Experience with extraction platforms like Maxwell and QC tools like TapeStation or Bioanalyzer.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Must hold current work authorization in the United States, as we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role.
