About the role#
This is a full-time co-op position running from January 18, 2027, to June 25, 2027. You will join the Biobank Operations team in Norwood, Massachusetts, to support the quality, integrity, and management of biospecimens. This role offers hands-on experience with sample lifecycle management, laboratory automation, and digital systems within a regulated biotechnology environment.
What you'll do#
- Support biospecimen receipt, documentation, storage, retrieval, and distribution following Standard Operating Procedures and safety requirements.
- Use the LabVantage Laboratory Information Management System to track samples, chain of custody, and lifecycle traceability.
- Assist with automation and robotics workflows for sample reformatting, storage, and retrieval.
- Handle biospecimens across required temperature conditions while following safety and chain-of-custody practices.
- Support study close-out, sample reconciliation, and storage optimization activities.
- Identify and escalate discrepancies regarding samples, labeling, inventory, or documentation.
- Prepare and deliver project updates or presentations to Biobank and cross-functional teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Coursework or laboratory experience in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or molecular biology.
- Basic laboratory skills, including pipetting and sample handling.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex protocols.
- Interest in biobanking, clinical research, laboratory operations, or regulated laboratory environments.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Prior exposure to laboratory equipment, automation, or digital sample-tracking systems is a plus.
