About the role#
As a Co-op Accountant with the Assurance and Accounting team, you will support clients by providing financial information that helps them make informed business decisions. You will work on a variety of tasks including bookkeeping, audits, and tax preparation while building technical skills in financial reporting.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files at once.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital assets.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, and various accounts.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Draft correspondence, technical reports, and client summaries.
- Collaborate with the engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Conduct inventory counts and contribute ideas to improve work processes.
- Use internal programs and systems effectively.
- Travel as necessary.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a bachelor degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progressing toward prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Previous office experience, customer service background, or experience with accounting and tax software are considered assets.
