Co-op Accountant

About the role#

As a Co-op Accountant within the Assurance & Accounting team, you will support clients by providing tailored financial information and analysis. This role involves working with a diverse team to help clients navigate financial reporting requirements and make informed business decisions.

What you'll do#

• Develop technical proficiency in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards to client files.
• Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare journal entries.
• Set up files for new clients, manage multiple engagements, and conduct inventory counts.
• Assess audit evidence, investigate financial discrepancies, and prepare technical reports or client summaries.
• Collaborate with engagement teams and build professional relationships with client contacts.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or completion of a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
• Completion of or progress toward prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• Flexibility to travel as required.
• Previous office experience, customer service background, and familiarity with accounting or tax software are considered assets.

• Salary: $50,000 - $52,000 per year.
