About the role#
The Mascot Operations Intern supports the planning and execution of all mascot program activities. This role serves as the lead handler for the primary mascot performer at home games and acts as the primary back-up performer for various appearances, including community events and corporate functions. This position is a paid, full-time opportunity for the Summer 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Manager, Mascot Operations with daily planning and program execution.
- Serve as the lead handler for the primary mascot performer during Minnesota Wild home games.
- Perform in-costume for appearances such as school shows, season ticket member events, and community functions.
- Manage administrative tasks, including inventory tracking, costume maintenance, and script writing.
- Attend meetings to represent the mascot program.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience as an NCAA Division 1 college mascot performer is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a customer-service mindset.
- Height between 5'9" and 6'1" to accommodate costume restrictions.
- Strong ice skating skills, with experience skating in costume preferred.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to be insured by the organization.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including walking, bending, and kneeling.
