About the role#
As an SSD Firmware Intern, you will work with experienced engineers to develop, test, and optimize firmware for Micron SSD products. This role provides hands-on experience in embedded systems, firmware development, and AI-assisted engineering workflows. You will contribute to the performance, quality, and reliability of storage solutions used in data centers and client computing.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop, test, and enhance SSD firmware features.
- Debug and resolve firmware issues to improve product performance and quality.
- Create and complete test plans to validate firmware behavior.
- Participate in code reviews to contribute to software quality and development processes.
- Use AI-enabled tools and workflows to automate tasks and improve engineering productivity.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Must be returning to school following the internship.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research, coursework, or academic projects.
- Experience programming in C/C++.
- Basic understanding of embedded systems, computer architecture, operating systems, or firmware development.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and large language models like Copilot or Claude.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Preferred: Experience with Python, Git, JIRA, SSD technology, storage systems, or NAND flash memory.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site in Longmont, Colorado.
- The role follows a rolling term.
