Software Analyst / Developer, Emerging Talent Intern

About the role#

The Fleet Technologies Group at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a Software Analyst / Developer Intern to contribute to projects that enhance urban transit operations. This role involves maintaining and developing enterprise applications such as Bus Time, Bus Trek, Yard Trek, and Transit Signal Priority. Interns will work on software development, data analysis, and system maintenance to improve fleet tracking and operational efficiency.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate on designing new features, reports, and analytical tools for enterprise applications.
• Write, test, demonstrate, and deploy code for new features and bug fixes.
• Diagnose and resolve issues within existing codebases.
• Draft and update technical documentation for features, fixes, and workflows.
• Assist in configuring and maintaining server environments and containers on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Perform ad hoc data collection and develop automated tools to extract data from existing systems.
• Analyze data to identify performance trends and prepare presentations with actionable recommendations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
• Preferred majors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Data Science.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
• Capacity to work independently and as an active team player.

• Work Modality: This is an on-site position requiring regular, in-person attendance.
• Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
• Employment Status: Full-time internship.
