Human Resources Business Partner, Emerging Talent Intern (Fall)

About the role#

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking an intern to join the Human Resource Business Partner team supporting NYC Transit Buses and MTA Bus Company. This role provides hands-on experience in HR operations, workforce data analysis, and employee engagement initiatives. Interns will work alongside experienced HR professionals to implement talent management programs and day-to-day HR solutions.

What you'll do#

• Process candidate documentation and assist with onboarding activities, including contingent employee onboarding.
• Support HR Business Partners in reviewing work authorization documents and maintaining accurate trackers for expiration dates.
• Contribute to HR projects focused on employee engagement, culture, and internal communication.
• Assist with the maintenance of HR databases and files, ensuring high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Analyze employee data to identify workforce trends and provide administrative support for ongoing HR initiatives.
• Participate in event planning and internal communication efforts.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with at least a 2.5 GPA.
• Preferred majors include Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Health, Data Science, or Industrial Engineering.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities.

• Compensation: $19.00 per hour for undergraduate students.
