    About the role#

    The Fleet Technologies Group manages the Bus Hardware Subsystems (BHS) deployed across the MTA bus fleet. These onboard devices serve as the Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system and function as wireless gateways for various onboard systems. As an intern, you will support daily operations by analyzing diagnostic data, managing hardware tracking, and coordinating maintenance workflows to ensure system reliability and vendor compliance.

    What you'll do#

    • Assess daily automated reports covering approximately 300 flagged units to identify buses requiring maintenance.
    • Gather supplemental data from Road Operations, the SPEAR database, and depot communications to identify additional failed units.
    • Consolidate data to compile a prioritized list for vendor maintenance visits and reconcile vendor work reports against these lists.
    • Identify, schedule, and verify special repair cases, such as antenna replacements, in coordination with vendors and depots.
    • Maintain an accurate database mapping BHS units and SIM cards to specific buses.
    • Assist with the activation, deactivation, and replacement of SIM cards.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) reports to evaluate system performance and vendor compliance with Service Level Agreements.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA, majoring in Data Science, Operations Management, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
    • Capacity to work both independently and as a collaborative team member.
    • Authorization to work in the United States.

    • Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
