About the role#
The Student Nurse Intern works one on one with an assigned Registered Nurse to provide quality care for patients. This role offers the opportunity to learn the daily responsibilities of a Registered Nurse while modeling the mission and values of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.
What you'll do#
- Provide or assist patients with personal care, activities of daily living, and other basic needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Observe and report patient conditions and behaviors to the supervising Registered Nurse.
- Assist with patient discharge planning from the time of admission through dismissal.
- Support patient and family education.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing college program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with patients, families, the public, and health care staff.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
