About the role#
The Respiratory Supply Intern supports patient care by managing the equipment and supplies necessary for daily hospital operations. This position involves maintaining inventory levels, ensuring equipment safety, and upholding infection control standards. You will work on-site at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in a part-time, paid capacity.
What you'll do#
- Monitor, inventory, and restock equipment and supplies across the hospital.
- Maintain PAR levels for both sterile and unsterile items.
- Fill supply requisitions and deliver items to various departments.
- Process returned equipment and participate in annual physical inventory counts.
- Perform general housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Conduct quality control checks and document sterilization procedures.
- Ensure all equipment operates safely and meets DNV and hospital standards.
- Recognize and react to environmental safety factors.
- Apply departmental policies and procedures in daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program for Respiratory Therapy.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to communicate verbally with staff, physicians, and families.
- Capability to handle moderately complex written materials.
- Skill in organizing multiple tasks and managing workflow independently.
- Technical ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
- Understanding of infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to respond to emergency or critical situations.
- Physical capacity to perform heavy work, including lifting up to 100 lbs.
