    About the role#

Reality Labs builds wearable devices that are manufactured and tested at scale. The Manufacturing Test Engineering (MTE) team develops the strategies and systems that ensure these devices meet product requirements. As an intern, you will learn the MTE workflow from requirements through to tester qualification. You will focus on automating manual tasks and using data mining to identify risks or unusual behaviors. This is a 12-week, hands-on role where you will build a functional tool for the team to use.

    What you'll do#

    • Learn the end-to-end MTE role, including supply chain strategy, test coverage design, hardware and software systems, and mass production improvements.
    • Identify opportunities for automation within the test development workflow.
    • Design, build, and deploy AI tools and agents, including prompt design, data integration, and iteration based on feedback.
    • Create data pipelines to analyze manufacturing test data and develop anomaly detection to surface risks early.
    • Validate tool outputs against real test data to ensure accuracy.
    • Define project success metrics, such as cost savings or reduced test time, and measure your results.
    • Present findings, demos, and recommendations to cross-functional engineering teams.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in Python for scripting and data handling.
    • Hands-on experience building with AI, such as agents, LLM-based automations, or AI-integrated applications.
    • Experience with data analysis tools like Pandas or SQL to draw conclusions from noisy, real-world data.
    • Intent to return to your degree program after the internship.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States.
    • Coursework or project experience in hardware test, instrumentation, measurement, or embedded systems is preferred.
    • Exposure to manufacturing concepts like statistical process control, yield analysis, and design of experiments.
    • Experience with agentic frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, or model evaluation.
    • Familiarity with anomaly detection, time-series analysis, or applied machine learning on sensor data.

    Location & details#

    • This is an on-site internship based in Sunnyvale, California.
    • The position is full-time and paid.
    • This role does not offer visa sponsorship.
