About the role#
This team acts as the measurement engine for Meta MR hardware. We verify every optical claim a headset makes, from display sharpness to color accuracy, before a product ships. Our infrastructure spans roughly 80 instruments and factory stations. These stations generate over 1 billion rows of test data. Currently, a significant portion of upstream quality data does not reach our pipeline, which limits our ability to act on it. This 12-week internship focuses on solving these data bottlenecks.
What you'll do#
- Build automated ingestion paths and pipeline schemas to integrate offline lab and bench measurement data.
- Develop an AI agent and system of record to track instrument certification, trigger maintenance alerts, and coordinate service scheduling.
- Implement automated analytics layers for measurement system analysis, station-to-station correlation, and drift detection across production test data.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience querying relational or columnar data stores.
- A foundation in statistics and data modeling, including distributions, hypothesis testing, regression, and model validation.
- Experience building a tool, pipeline, dashboard, model, or library that others have used.
- Ability to explain technical results and confidence levels to people outside your field.
- Intent to return to your full-time degree program after the internship.
- Work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and throughout the internship.
Additional skills that are helpful include:
- Experience with predictive modeling, time-series analysis, and anomaly detection.
- Knowledge of statistical process control, such as Cpk, control charts, and Gauge R&R.
- Experience with data warehousing, distributed processing like Spark or Presto, and ETL orchestration.
- Full-stack web development skills using React, Next.js, and server-side APIs.
- Experience building with LLMs, including agents, tool use, or retrieval systems.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, test, or instrumentation data.
- An interest in optics or imaging.
Location & details#
- Location: Sunnyvale, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Duration: 12 weeks.
- Employment: Full-time internship.
