About the role#
This 11-week internship program provides a foundation in retail knowledge and leadership. You will work on real projects that impact the business and participate in professional development, including an executive speaker series and networking events. The program serves as an accelerated pathway toward store leadership roles at Meijer.
What you'll do#
During the first half of the program, you will build your retail knowledge and leadership skills. In the second half, you will serve as an Intern Team Leader with the following responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily operations.
- Mentor and coach team members to ensure sales and service goals are met.
- Support your department in managing the P&L, maintaining shrink, and achieving sales targets.
- Model fast and friendly customer service while ensuring store appearance meets company standards.
- Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable, consistent attendance.
- Spend the majority of your time on the floor communicating with customers and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program.
- Majors in Business Administration, Marketing, Operations Management, or Supply Chain Management are highly relevant.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- A strong drive for results, customer focus, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Prior retail experience and past leadership roles in work or extracurricular activities are preferred.
