About the role#
MegazoneCloud US is a cloud managed service provider. We manage cloud environments for companies, including their applications, databases, and networks across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. As a Cloud Operations Co-op, you will support our team in keeping these systems secure, affordable, and running smoothly. You will work alongside a mentor engineer and gain exposure to how global operations function.
What you'll do#
- Manage a real ticket queue, including access requests, monitoring changes, and inventory clean-up.
- Run scheduled health checks, perform system patching, and verify backups.
- Analyze cloud cost and usage reports to identify waste and help build savings cases.
- Create and update runbooks and knowledge-base articles for the team.
- Build an automation tool, such as a script or dashboard, to eliminate a recurring manual task.
- Second-block co-ops may also participate in incident response, migration support, and Terraform contributions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in Computing & Information Technologies, Information Sciences, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Networking & Systems Administration, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed study, including coursework in programming, networking, operating systems, or databases.
- Familiarity with the command line and a willingness to learn Linux.
- Clear written English.
- A dependable and detail-oriented approach to following procedures.
- The willingness to ask for help early rather than guessing on production systems.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Rochester, New York.
- Work is full-time during the term, following standard business hours in your time zone.
- The position is on-site or hybrid to ensure you remain close to your mentor.
- Occasional evening or early-morning work may be required for maintenance windows or calls with international colleagues, but these are planned in advance and are not overnight.
- We provide a laptop and necessary tooling. Co-ops are not part of the on-call rotation.
