About the role#
The Safety & Sustainability Intern supports the Vice President of Risk and Loss Control and the safety and sustainability departments. You will assist with a wide range of initiatives focused on regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Research sustainability best practices and environmental management strategies.
- Identify gaps in current programs and create plans for improvement.
- Track and report progress on key initiatives.
- Analyze data regarding energy consumption, waste management, water use, and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Build and maintain dashboards to visualize safety and sustainability performance.
- Create reports, presentations, and training materials.
- Conduct internal audits to verify regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments to support safety and sustainability programs.
- Lead internal training sessions and work to increase employee engagement.
- Manage the organization and distribution of PPE and safety supplies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program such as Environmental Science, Sustainability, EHS, or Safety. Completion of at least two years of higher education is preferred.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with public speaking and presenting to groups.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort with detailed tasks like data review, proofreading, and scanning.
- Previous experience in both a manufacturing setting and an office environment is preferred.
