Foundation Events Intern

About the role#

The Foundation Events Intern will gain hands-on experience in event management with a focus on healthcare fundraising. This role provides exposure to the full lifecycle of events, from initial planning and logistics to on-site execution and post-event reporting. Interns will work closely with the events team to support donor engagement and administrative operations.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the development of event timelines and project plans.
• Manage event logistics, including room setups, A/V requirements, and signage.
• Support donor communications, including drafting plans, sending confirmations, and managing follow-ups.
• Execute on-site event tasks such as setup, teardown, and vendor or guest coordination.
• Maintain guest lists, RSVP tracking, and registration systems.
• Prepare briefing documents, run-of-show schedules, and event materials like auction items or pledge tools.
• Provide general administrative support to the events team.
• Assist with end-to-end volunteer coordination, including recruitment and scheduling.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a junior or senior at an accredited college or university, with completed coursework in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, hospitality, business, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with CRM systems or event platforms is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and professional accuracy.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
• A customer service mindset capable of providing a professional experience for guests and donors.

Location & details#

• Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: 20-40 hours per week for a 12-16 week period, with some evening and weekend work required for offsite events.
• Compensation: $18 per hour.
• This is a paid, full-time internship.
