About the role#
As an IC Validation Engineer Intern, you will join the Optics team to work on high-speed optical communication systems. You will contribute to the development of critical components for 800G and 1.6T ZR systems. This role involves working with a multi-disciplined team on the validation of analog front-end designs, photonics integrated circuits, and board-level hardware. You will gain exposure to test development at mmWave frequencies and automation of test systems.
What you'll do#
- Develop hardware for chip-level or sub-system level performance evaluation and validation.
- Execute engineering validation plans for optoelectronic components, such as TIAs and modulator drivers.
- Design hardware platforms for validating chips and systems with guidance from senior engineers.
- Write code and scripts in Python to automate measurements.
- Verify and troubleshoot board-level or chip-level designs.
- Collaborate with team members on test hardware, database structures, and validation projects.
- Document design and validation results and generate reports.
- Learn the specifications and functionalities of Marvell Optoelectronics products.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong fundamentals in at least two or three of the following areas: RF and Microwave Engineering, transistor-level analog design, common building blocks, communication theories, or digital system engineering.
- Programming experience in Python or C.
- Exposure to Matlab and ADS.
- Experience with Silicon Photonics.
- Interest in hands-on lab work using test and measurement equipment like VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and in-circuit emulators.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Santa Clara, Irvine, or Westlake Village, California.
