About the role#
As a DSP & Systems Architecture Intern, you will work on system-level problems at the intersection of research and production. The algorithms and architectures you develop directly influence how AI infrastructure performs at scale. You will join the Advanced Technologies team within Central Engineering, which provides key intellectual property for high-speed wireline and optical products.
What you'll do#
- Architect, model, and evaluate system-level designs for electrical and optical interconnects.
- Develop analytical models and simulations to inform silicon architecture decisions.
- Build and optimize DSP algorithms for high-speed links, including equalization, calibration, and timing recovery.
- Collaborate with analog, digital, photonics, and firmware engineering teams to validate assumptions against hardware and silicon measurements.
- Create behavioral models using MATLAB or Python.
- Present architectural proposals and algorithm results to engineering leadership.
- Contribute to technical documentation and participate in design reviews.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or M.Sc. program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Research focus on optical or electrical interconnects, digital signal processing, or communication systems.
- Strong foundation in signal processing, communication theory, control systems, or system architecture.
- Research or project experience in high-speed communications, SerDes systems, signal integrity, or clock and data recovery.
- Experience developing models and simulations in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
