About the role#
Logan Health is offering a paid internship for students currently enrolled in a surgical technology program. This program runs from January through May 2027 and provides hands-on experience in the operating room. Interns work 32 hours per week on day shifts. Successful completion of the internship leads to a full-time Certified Surgical Technologist position at Logan Health, contingent upon a two-year employment commitment.
What you'll do#
- Complete clinical rotations in Surgical Services, including 24 hours per week in the operating room and 8 hours per week in Central Sterile and perioperative support roles.
- Prepare for surgical procedures by selecting and setting up necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and ensure all instruments are in safe working condition.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments efficiently.
- Participate in surgical counts and ensure documentation is accurate.
- Apply dressings and assist with patient transfers to the recovery area.
- Collaborate with the team to maintain preference cards and supply lists.
- Assist with lab specimens, room cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
- Exhibit knowledge of intra-operative medications and procedures.
- Perform administrative duties and communicate status changes to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Minimum of one year of college education.
- Current enrollment in a nationally accredited surgical technology program (CAAHEP or ARC/STSA) at Missoula College, Great Falls College, or FVCC.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proven critical thinking skills and the ability to manage time effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Previous healthcare experience is preferred.

- Location: Logan Health Medical Center, Kalispell, Montana.

- Schedule: 32 hours per week, day shift.
- Compensation: $19 per hour.
