Logan Health is seeking a Pharmacist Intern to join the Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy team in Kalispell, Montana. This is a paid, PRN (as-needed) position that offers flexibility to support the pharmacy team during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations. All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Manufacture, prepare, compound, package, and label pharmaceuticals, including IV additive services, oncology medications, and investigational drugs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in aseptic technique for the preparation of sterile products.
- Assist Pharmacists in dispensing medications, ensuring all prescriptions receive Pharmacist verification before distribution.
- Accurately deliver narcotics and maintain required documentation.
- Monitor medication stock for outdated items and ensure proper, timely disposal.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and unpacking medication shipments while noting invoice discrepancies.
- Perform patient billing and accurately fill patient orders, floor stock, and medication carts.
- Participate in the Meds to Beds program by delivering and counseling patients leaving inpatient or outpatient departments.
- Utilize appropriate precautionary measures when handling blood products, needles, syringes, chemotherapeutic agents, and chemicals.
What you'll need#
- Active Montana Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist Intern license.
- Current enrollment in or graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to set priorities while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new pharmacy computer systems.
- Preferred qualifications include previous pharmacy experience, knowledge of medication brand and generic names, and an understanding of medical terminology and calculations.
