About the role#
LISC Jacksonville is looking for a student to join our team as a Community Research & Innovation Intern. You will work on projects involving housing, neighborhood development, and public policy. This role focuses on meaningful project work rather than administrative tasks. You will contribute to initiatives like Ownership Continuity, which helps families protect their homes and manage property transfers. This is a paid, primarily remote position. While most work happens remotely, you may occasionally attend meetings or events in the Jacksonville area.
What you'll do#
- Conduct community-based research, data review, and mapping to support housing stability and neighborhood development.
- Validate neighborhood and property-level information for use in outreach and decision-making.
- Create neighborhood profiles and trend analysis reports.
- Assist with resident interviews, listening sessions, and community research activities.
- Translate reports and data into concise briefs, graphics, and presentations for staff and partners.
- Maintain organized research files and project trackers.
- Use AI tools to support research and workflow, while verifying information for accuracy.
- Complete at least one substantial, portfolio-ready project during your internship.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor degree program or higher. Students from majors such as Public Health, Sociology, Urban Planning, Communications, Political Science, and Data Science are encouraged to apply.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Reliable internet access during work hours.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
- Experience with GIS, data visualization, or AI tools is helpful but not required.
- Ability to respect resident privacy and handle confidential information.
