DoD SkillBridge Internship - Maintenance Technician

About the role#

This DoD SkillBridge internship is designed to provide transitioning service members with the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into a full-time Maintenance Technician I role. The program lasts between 90 and 120 days and focuses on learning company processes and facility operations. Successful completion of training objectives and positive performance appraisals may lead to an offer of full-time employment.

What you'll do#

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and minor repairs under the instruction and supervision of leadership.
• Conduct inspections of refrigeration systems under supervision.
• Operate power tools, cutting torches, and welding apparatus.
• Utilize motorized lifts and rental equipment as needed.
• Perform maintenance on material handling equipment and automated site components such as sensors and switches.

What you'll need#

• Eligibility to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program per DODI 1322.29.
• Completion of trade school courses or minimal experience in building maintenance or material handling equipment maintenance.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to communicate across all levels of the facility.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Capability to work in temperatures ranging from -20 Fahrenheit to 100 Fahrenheit while wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends if necessary.
