About the role#
This internship is a 90 to 120 day program designed to provide transitioning service members with the skills and experience necessary to pursue a career as a Maintenance Technician. The program focuses on facility operations, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols. Successful completion of the program and meeting training objectives may lead to an offer of full time employment, though such an offer is not guaranteed.
What you'll do#
- Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and minor repairs on mechanical assets and material handling equipment under direct supervision.
- Inspect refrigeration systems with guidance from leadership.
- Operate power tools, cutting torches, and welding apparatus.
- Utilize onsite motorized lifts and rental equipment as required.
- Support maintenance tasks on proximity switches, sensors, and push buttons at automated sites.
What you'll need#
- Eligibility to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program per DODI 1322.29.
- Completion of trade school courses or minimal experience in building or material handling equipment maintenance.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the facility.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in temperatures ranging from -20 Fahrenheit to 100 Fahrenheit while wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Capacity to work a flexible schedule, including weekends if necessary.
