About the role#
This internship at Vanair, a Lincoln Electric company, offers hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing and engineering. You will work on projects that connect your academic background to real-world industrial challenges. The program includes technical training, mentorship, and opportunities to engage with leadership. Participants are required to attend an Immersion Day at our Cleveland, Ohio headquarters during the first few weeks of the program.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate and redesign tooling to improve line efficiency, ergonomics, and throughput.
- Conduct time-motion studies and benchmark station layouts to measure cycle-time improvements.
- Create CAD updates for tooling and run FEA checks when necessary.
- Prototype tooling modifications using 3D printing or laser-cut parts to validate improvements.
- Assist with testing, including setting up test benches, instrumenting devices for data logging, and analyzing performance characteristics.
- Support system safety validation by creating block diagrams and performing failure-mode analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or having achieved a bachelor's degree in engineering, specifically in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship.

- This position is based on-site in Michigan City, Indiana.
- The internship is a full-time, paid role for the Summer 2027 term.
- Program dates are May 25, 2027, through August 6, 2027.
