About the role#
Lehi City is hiring a Prosecution Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role works directly with the city prosecution staff to manage Class B and C misdemeanors and infraction cases in the Lehi City Justice Court. You will work 10 to 20 hours per week, with a schedule flexible to your law school classes. This is an unpaid internship.
What you'll do#
- Perform legal research and writing.
- Review case files and assist with witness preparation.
- Draft charging documents and motions.
- Participate in court proceedings, including trials.
- Handle all aspects of municipal criminal prosecution.
- Appear in court on your own once city staff determine you are competent.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2L or 3L student at an accredited law school.
- Eligibility to practice under Rule 4-807 of the Supreme Court Rules of Professional Practice.
- Completed coursework in evidence and criminal procedure.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
- Completion of fingerprinting for BCI clearance.
