About the role#
The Materials Science Division is seeking undergraduate students for research internships during the Winter and Spring of 2027. These positions offer practical experience in fields including organic and inorganic synthesis, computational chemistry, materials characterization, and metallurgy. You will work within the Materials and Chemistry Institute to support ongoing scientific projects.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with scientists on laboratory experiments, computational modeling, or data analysis.
- Participate in research activities under close supervision.
- Gather and analyze information to support scientific objectives.
- Present your findings through formal presentations.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution.
- Pursuing a degree in chemistry, materials sciences, computational chemistry, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Ability to apply basic engineering, scientific, or physics principles to solve technical problems.
- Experience with personal computers and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present concepts effectively.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Knowledge of chemistry and materials.
- Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the NDAA.
