About the role#
We are looking for an Engineering Co-op student to join our team in Waterdown. You will work on advanced electro-optical and infrared systems. This role involves hands-on engineering analysis, testing, and systems engineering. You will gain exposure to how products are designed, integrated, and qualified for demanding environments. You will work alongside optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to ensure design consistency and compliance with industry standards.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain system and product requirements using database tools.
- Perform requirement analysis, decomposition, traceability, and verification planning.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and evaluate complex system architectures.
- Create test procedures, engineering documentation, and environmental qualification test reports.
- Organize and interpret data from environmental, functional, and performance tests.
- Analyze and tune PID controllers, feedback control algorithms, and inertial navigation systems.
- Support flight and vehicle testing for inertial navigation systems and GPS equipment.
- Execute laboratory tests to evaluate camera and control system performance.
- Use MATLAB, Python, and other software tools to model system behavior, automate tasks, and analyze data.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Aviation/Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Ability to coordinate interdepartmental efforts with various engineering teams.
- A solid understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering concepts.
