About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Carlsbad, California. You will work on software development for tactical radio equipment. The schedule follows a 9/80 format, where you work 80 hours over nine days and have every other Friday off.
What you'll do#
- Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to develop software applications.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to build and evaluate hardware and software interfaces.
- Define operational performance requirements and system design.
- Support all phases of the software development life cycle, from requirements analysis to testing embedded software for real-time control.
- Write software test procedures, programs, and documentation.
- Use modeling tools to collect operating data, run experimental tests, and analyze results.
- Take part in peer reviews to find, track, and fix software defects.
- Write code in languages like C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, HTML5, XML, SQL, Perl, Python, and Ajax.
- Work across Windows, Linux, mobile platforms, and embedded real-time operating systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program at an accredited university.
- A major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Wireless Engineering, Information Security, Mathematics, Digital Arts and Sciences, or a related field.
