About the role#
As a Software Engineer Intern at L3Harris Technologies, you will contribute to the development of software for advanced tactical radio equipment. You will work within a team to bridge the gap between hardware and software, ensuring systems meet operational performance requirements. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Rochester, New York.
What you'll do#
- Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to software development.
- Support the full software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing of embedded software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate system interfaces and design.
- Write software test procedures, programs, and supporting documentation.
- Use modeling tools to gather operating data, run experimental tests, and analyze results.
- Participate in peer reviews to identify, track, and fix software defects.
- Write code in various languages including C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, HTML5, XML, SQL, Perl, Python, Ajax, and Qt for Windows, Linux, mobile, and embedded real-time operating systems.
What you'll need#
- You must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Wireless Engineering, Information Security, Mathematics, Digital Arts & Sciences, or a related field at an accredited university.
- Preferred experience includes one or more of the following: C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, JEE, HTML5, XML, SQL, Qt, Windows.NET, Unix, Linux, SOA, RTOS, Real-Time Controls, Wireless, Software Security, Robotics, OOA/OOD, Hadoop, Android, or Embedded Systems.
Location & details#
- Location: Rochester, NY.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule (80 hours over 9 days, with every other Friday off).
- Compensation: $26.50 - $31.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays.
