About the role#
This is a 16-month co-op position starting in May 2026. You will work alongside senior engineers to solve technical problems, generate detailed drawings, and perform analyses for the mechanical engineering team. You will handle tasks of moderate complexity, supporting the development of optical sensor and targeting systems.
What you'll do#
- Provide design, analysis, and testing support for new and existing products.
- Create technical drawings and bills of materials.
- Assist senior staff with technical tasks and contribute to departmental best practices.
- Participate in design reviews as a presenter or reviewer.
- Support the verification and validation of new product designs.
- Implement changes to documentation, parts, and assemblies.
- Design cabling wire harnesses, including physical routing and production verification.
- Stay current with mechanical industry trends and new technologies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to complete a 16-month term starting in May 2026.
- Current enrollment and good standing with an accredited university co-op program.
- Ability to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance.
- Experience with a solid modeling CAD package, preferably SolidWorks.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- A self-starting and motivated approach to work.
