About the role#
As a Pharmacy Student Intern at Kroger, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide patient care, manage inventory, and assist with daily pharmacy operations. This role is a paid, full-time position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment for customers and answer questions about store products.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills or refills.
- Input patient and prescription data accurately into the computer system.
- Dispense medications and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Communicate with prescribers to obtain authorizations.
- Manage insurance claims and coordinate with insurance companies on behalf of customers.
- Facilitate customer transactions and bag prescriptions for delivery.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and organize incoming medication stock.
- Monitor for safety risks, report illegal activity, and notify management of any accidents or prescription incidents.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to promote trust and respect among your team.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
