About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to support pharmacy operations and provide patient care. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring that patients receive accurate information and medications. You will interact with a diverse range of customers, including older adults and individuals with special needs, while upholding company values of integrity and respect.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and offer recommendations for over the counter medications.
- Accurately input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills or refills.
- Dispense correct medications and bag them for customer pickup.
- Contact prescribers for authorization and communicate with insurance companies when necessary.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused bottles.
- Maintain a clean department and report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist customers with charge purchases and answer general questions about store products.
- Work cooperatively in a busy environment and handle conflicts in a professional manner.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Capability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
